MI Cape Town have picked England fast bowler Jofra Archer as their wild card for the SA20 league.
The league announced on Monday that the six franchises would be able to add a wild-card player (a South African or an overseas player) to their squads ahead of the inaugural season starting on 10 January. They have until 30 December to make their selections.
Archer hasn’t played for England since March 2021 due to a problematic right elbow injury, which was followed by a stress fracture of the lower back.
The 27-year-old is currently with the England Lions in Abu Dhabi and bowled nine overs in a three-day warm-up match against England’s Test squad on Wednesday.
Archer will join countryman Sam Curran, Proteas fast bowler Kagiso Rabada and Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan in the MI Cape Town squad.
