MI Cape Town have announced two new signings for the remainder of the SA20 tournament.
They are English fast bowler Henry Brookes and big-hitting Singapore-born Australia batsman Tim David.
Brookes (23) was bought for £40,000 by the Birmingham Phoenix for the 2022 edition of the Hundred. He took six wickets in six matches, including a career-best 5-25, at an economy rate of 10.04.
David – a T20 specialist who has played for several franchises around the world – was bought by the Mumbai Indians for $1.1-million at the 2022 IPL auction and went on to score 186 runs in eight matches at an average of 37.20 and a strike rate of 216.27.
Having earned 14 T20I caps for Singapore, the 26-year-old made his T20I debut for Australia against India in September last year and went on to feature in three T20 World Cup matches.
Brookes and David replace Englishmen Olly Stone and Liam Livingstone in the MI Cape Town squad. Stone has been called up by England for their away Test series against New Zealand in February, while Livingstone has not featured in the SA20 at all due to a knee injury.
MI Cape Town are currently fifth on the six-team SA20 log and in danger of missing out on the semi-finals.
