The Sydney Thunder kept their spot at the top of the Women’s Big Bash League with a comprehensive six-wicket win over the Adelaide Strikers, while the Perth Scorchers and Sydney Sixers also enjoyed comprehensive victories.
Marizanne Kapp and Dane van Niekerk starred with the ball for the Sydney Sixers to set up a seven-wicket win over the Hobart Hurricanes as they restricted them to 133-5 off their rain-reduced 15 overs. Kapp’s return of 2-20 (econ 6.66) and Van Niekerk’s miserly 1-13 (econ 4.33) played a huge role in restricting the Hurricane batters.
Their teammate Ashleigh Gardner scored 79 off 50 balls (12×4, 3×6, S/R 158.00) alongside Erin Burns (43 off 20 balls, 5×4, 2×6, S/R 215.00) to ensure they stayed on top of the table, level pegging with the Sydney Thunder.
