• Maharaj returns for Heat after club match

Proteas spinner Keshav Maharaj played for Delta Cricket Club against Chatsworth Sporting Cricket Club in the 2019-20 KwaZulu-Natal Cricket Union premier league last week.

Maharaj completed figures of 2-20 in six overs in a comfortable win for Delta Cricket Club, according to Club Cricket SA.

A day prior, he had starred in the Heat’s victory over the Nelson Mandela Bay Giants at Kingsmead and is available for Wednesday’s Mzansi Super League clash with the Paarl Rocks at Boland Park.

‘Keshav can adapt to any sort of situation, really. He is always keen to get the ball in his hand and wants to bowl in the pressure overs,’ said Heat captain Dane Vilas.

‘He is fantastic when he bowls one or two overs in the powerplay. He has exceptional control and we saw that this weekend when he picked up the key wickets of Jason Roy and Heino Kuhn against the Giants.

‘I am glad that all the hard work that he has put in is coming off.’

Vilas is looking forward to challenging the Rocks, who currently occupy first position in the 2019 tournament’s six-team standings, but are without the injured JP Duminy and Aiden Markram.

‘It’s a good pitch and a big ground, but it has a fast outfield, which I think might suit our game with the attack that we have at the moment and the power that we have in our batting,’ he added.
