The England top order collapsed against India on the first morning of the fourth Test.
England won the toss and elected to bat first, but some dreadful batting saw them reduced to 36-4 at the start of the 18th over at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton.
Keaton Jennings fell for a duck after offering no shot to Jasprit Bumrah, followed by Joe Root for four with the score 15-2. Jonny Bairstow got a tickle to Bumrah and was gone for six, followed by Alastair Cook, who slashed at a wide delivery without moving his feet and was brilliantly caught low down at third slip by Virat Kohli.
Cook’s departure left England on 36-4, but Ben Stokes (12 not out) and Jos Buttler (13 not out) saw England through to lunch with the score 57-4.
A difficult start for us this morning.
