The Central Gauteng Lions beat the KZN Dolphins by eight runs in their T20 Challenge match at St George’s Park on Thursday.
The margin of victory flattered the Dolphins, who slumped to 26-3 in the fifth over after losing Keegan Peterson (three), Andile Phehlukwayo (two) and David Miller (nine).
Grant Roelofson (34), Khaya Zondo (35) and Jason Smith (39) kept their team in the game, but disciplined Lions bowling meant the Dolphins never really looked like reaching the target of 157.
Bjorn Fortuin (2-16), Sisanda Magala (2-26) and Malusi Siboto (2-23) all shined with the ball.
The Lions earlier posted 156-8 thanks to 42 from 28 balls from Shane Dadswell, who hit three fours and two sixes, and Magala’s 37 off 27 (four fours and a six).
Jason Smith (3-16) and Ruan de Swardt (3-32) were the Dolphins’ best bowlers.
