Mitchell van Buuren scored an unbeaten 67 off 55 balls as the Central Gauteng Lions beat the Free State Knights by five wickets at St George’s Park.
It was just the Lions’ second win in seven matches, while the Knights remain rooted to the bottom of the log after suffering a fifth defeat in six matches.
Needing 128 to win, the Lions were 16-2 in the third over, before Reeza Hendricks (34 off 31 balls) and Van Buuren got them back on track.
The Lions reached their target with five balls to spare. Alfred Mothoa picked up 2-20 for the Knights.
Earlier, the Knights posted 127-8 with opener Jacques Snyman scoring 39 off 27 balls and Farhaan Behardien finishing on 35* from 31.
