Spinner George Linde took four wickets as the Cape Cobras began their 4-Day Franchise Series match with the Warriors in Port Elizabeth on the front foot.
Linde led the attack as the home side batted first, only to be dismissed for 194 with Rudi Second top scoring for the Warriors with 55.
Linde finished with figures of 4-52 before the Cobras reached stumps on 72-3 in their first innings – Pieter Malan unbeaten on 35 alongside Kyle Verreynne who is on 21.

Bad light stopped play early in Centurion on Sunday where Aiden Markram (75) and Dean Elgar (52) looked in good touch with the bat as the Titans batted first in their clash with the Dolphins.
The men from Durban fought back with wickets by Ruan de Swart and Keshav Maharaj as the Titans ended the day on 269-9.
Raynard van Tonder continued his excellent form with the bat by hitting his second century of the campaign as the Knights piled on the runs against the Lions in Bloemfontein.
Van Tonder struck 180 off 224 deliveries as he ended the day unbeaten with the Knights on 327-6.
