West Indian Evin Lewis gave Faf du Plessis a resounding victory with a 36-ball 73 in the Caribbean Premier League.
On a personal level, Du Plessis contributed just nine, but he oversaw a top-order blitz which took the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots to 203-7, and masterminded a bowling effort by spinners Tabraiz Shamsi and Samuel Badree, which strangled the St Lucia Zouks by 58 runs.
In that Patriots onslaught, Morne Morkel emerged with credit, being the most economical bowler, conceding 30 runs from his four overs, while taking the wicket of Du Plessis.
Du Plessis was not missed as Lewis led the way, smashing six fours and five sixes, well supported by Lendl Simmons (30 off 16, 2×4, 3×6) and Devon Thomas (48 off 27, 1×4, 5×6).
In return, the Zouks started well, with Johnson Charles (40) and Shane Watson putting on 90 in nine overs, but leg-spinner Samuel Badree dismissed both in successive overs and applied a grip which could not be broken. Shamsi played his part equally effectively, taking 1-22 off four. David Miller was bowled by Carlos Brathwaite for four as the Zouks struggled to 145-5.
