Knight’s contracted player Eddie Leie turned up for Free State in the CSA Provincial 1-Day Challenge against Northern Cape to bag 4-44 and earn today’s Turbo Bowler award, writes ANITHA MADIKIZELA.
The wily leg-spinner – who’s earned himself two T20I caps for the Proteas – was at his destructive best for Free State in the 50-over provincial encounter against Northern Cape with a clinical 4-44 in 10 overs to help the visitors clinch a 4-wicket win in Kimberley.

Leie began his onslaught by picking up the wicket of Aubrey Swanepoel in the 27th over of the first innings before promptly following that up by bagging wicketkeeper-batsman Avumile Mnci, rattling his middle stump around the right-handed batsman’s legs.
The experienced 32-year-old didn’t stop there, as he also smashed through Aidan Brooker’s stumps before finishing off by bagging Giovanni Joseph’s wicket, securing a smart caught-and-bowled dismissal of the No 7 batsman in his final over.
His excellent spell helped to restrict the home team to 166 all out within 39 overs, laying the platform for Free State’s successful chase of the low target with 35 deliveries to spare.
