English county side Leicestershire have announced the signing of Cameron Delport for the NatWest T20 Blast.
The side have added the South African-born Delport to their roster as they look to bolster their batting line-up. The Foxes are currently fourth in the North group and are looking to maintain a top-four finish for a quarter-final spot.
The 27-year-old big-hitter qualifies to play for Leicestershire as a non-overseas player and has an impressive T20 record. He has made 2 045 T20 runs in 88 innings at an average of 25.56 and has a strike rate of 135.70 in the format. Delport boasts a T20 hundred with 12 half-centuries and is also a part-time bowler, who has taken 23 at 27.56 with an economy rate of 7.65.
Foxes’ Elite Performance Director Andrew McDonald, who played with Delport at Sydney Thunder last year says the experience Delport brings will be helpful to the team, and is a useful addition to their batting options.
‘Cameron has experience in most of the world’s top T20 competitions and his knowledge and skill will be valuable assets for us,’ McDonald says.
‘Cameron will give us another useful option in our batting roster and is also a good person who will contribute greatly to the changing room.’
Leicestershire Foxes play their next game against Lancashire Lightning on Friday.
