A magnificent 104 by Lizelle Lee took Surrey Stars to the Super League title.
The Stars finished third on the table and had to overcome the Western Storm in the semi-final earlier in the day. In the final against table-topping Loughborough Lightning, three Proteas Women ruled the roost for the Stars.
Lee got the innings off to a roaring start, slamming six sixes and 13 fours as she posted 104 off just 58 balls. Natalie Sciver shared a 111-run partnership with Lee for the third wicket as the Stars hit 183-6 off their 20 overs.
The star-studded Lightning team folded against top bowling by the Stars, with Proteas Women skipper Dane van Niekerk taking three for 37. Marizanne Kapp took 2-14 (econ 4.66), while Mady Villiers bowled batters eight, nine and 10 to return figures of 3-22 (econ 5.50).
Jenny Gunn top-scored for the Lightning with an undefeated 23 off 21 balls as they were bundled out for 117 in 18.3 overs to give the Stars a famous victory by 66 runs.
