Former England batsman Kevin Pietersen has suggested the World Test Championship final should not have been played in the UK due to its unpredictable weather.
Both the first day’s play, and Monday’s scheduled day four of action, were completely rained out in Southampton, putting a literal dampener on the highly anticipated inaugural WTC final between New Zealand and England.
South African-born Pietersen, who played over 100 Tests for England, took to Twitter to suggest a neutral venue in Dubai should rather have been chosen for the final.
It pains me to say it, but a ONE OFF & incredibly important cricket game should NOT be played in the UK.

Cos this very important game is a wash out. The weather isn’t predictable at all. A one off cannot be guaranteed to have the weather this match needs.

If it was up to me, Dubai would always host a one off match like this WTC game.
Neutral venue, fabulous stadium, guaranteed weather, excellent training facilities and a travel hub!
Oh, and ICC home is next to the stadium.— Kevin Pietersen? (@KP24) June 21, 2021
