CSA has invited the EP Warriors and Free State Knights to a mediation session as the One-Day Cup quota saga rages on.
The Warriors were docked five log points for only fielding two black Africans in their One-Day Cup win against the KZN Dolphins in Durban, which cost them a place in the playoffs, and fined R500,000, half of which was suspended.
On Tuesday, CSA said the Warriors had accepted their current log position after a mediation process and would pay R100,000 towards CSA’s grassroots cricket development initiatives in under-resourced communities within the Eastern Cape.
However, the Knights have sent a lawyer’s letter to CSA demanding that the Warriors’ win is removed from the wins column on the One-Day Cup log and their net rate adjusted. Both teams would then have three wins and the Knights would move above the Warriors on net run rate.
The Knights would also leapfrog the Warriors on the promotion-relegation table, with the Warriors relegated to Division 2 instead.

According to Rapport, the Knights have agreed to a mediation session between themselves, CSA and the Warriors, but want the content of the confidential session between CSA and the Warriors from the past week to be made public.
CSA has not yet responded to this request.

Rapport‘s sources also claim there are players who have signed for three seasons with the Knights and only completed one, who have already left the union following their relegation.
“But what happens if the Knights are not relegated? Then those players must return to the Knights in terms of the contracts they signed because they signed for several seasons,” a source said.
Free State Cricket CEO Johan van Heerden and EP Cricket president Donovan May declined to comment.
