Lance Klusener will not continue as head coach of Afghanistan when his contract expires at the end of the year.
The former Proteas all-rounder has performed the role since September 2019 and coached the team at the recent T20 World Cup.
The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) said in a statement that the decision not to extend Klusener’s contract was a mutual one.
“Having spent two years with the team, I will take away some memorable moments with me,” Klusener said in a press statement. “As I walk away from Afghanistan cricket team and its cricketing structure, I look forward to the next stage in my coaching career and opportunities it brings.”
