Lance Klusener has been appointed head coach of the Durban franchise in South Africa’s new T20 league.
The inaugural six-team tournament is scheduled to take place in January and February next year.
“This is a new challenge for me. It makes me very proud. I am looking forward to meet the team,” Klusener said in a statement issued by the RPSG group, the owners of the Durban franchise who also own the Lucknow Super Giants team in the IPL.
The former Proteas all-rounder was Afghanistan’s head coach from 2019 to 2021. He had previously been Zimbabwe’s batting coach and rejoined the team in that role earlier this year.
All six franchises in SA’s new T20 league have been bought by current IPL team owners.
