South Africa A thrashed a Zimbabwe XI by 142 runs in Harare on Saturday to take an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match T20 series.
SA A posted 184-8 thanks to Ryan Rickelton’s 47 off 35 balls and captain Heinrich Klaasen’s 56 off 31 before skittling the hosts for 49 in 12 overs.
After being put in to bat, SA A openers Lesiba Ngoepe (19) and Reeza Hendricks (three) were dismissed in quick succession.
Klaasen and Rickelton then combined for a 97-run partnership before the former was dismissed off the last ball of the 13th over with the team’s total on 125.
Khaya Zondo (three) and Jason Smith (five) fell either side of Rickelton’s wicket, with Bjorn Fortuin (19) and Glenton Stuurman (14) then making useful contributions towards the end of the innings to set the Zimbabwe XI a daunting target.
They never came close as Junior Dala took 3-12 in three overs, and Fortuin and Lizaad Williams each picked up two wickets.
The fourth match of the series will take place at the same venue on Sunday.
