New Zealand have won the toss and elected to bat in the World Cup final at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
Brendon McCullum said at the toss that he would prefer to put runs on the board, and ultimately put the Australians under pressure. New Zealand certainly have the batsmen to do so, with McCullum himself and Martin Guptill at the top of the order.
His opposite number, Michael Clarke would have batted first, but didn’t sound too disappointed with losing the toss. The pitch at the MCG is very flat, and should be good for batting throughout the course of game.
Both teams have named unchanged XIs for the decider.
