David Miller helped power Kings XI Punjab’s win over the Rajasthan Royals in Mohali on Tuesday, writes ANITHA MADIKIZELA.
The South African power-hitter was set to miss out on the encounter, but his replacement, Australian Moises Henriques, picked up an injury in the buildup to the match, which resulted in Miller’s inclusion.
He had only accumulated 171 runs at an average of 34.20 in his previous seven matches in IPL 2019, but proved vital for the home side after hitting a sizzling 40 at a 148 strike rate. The left-hander smashed two fours and two sixes before bagging a catch in the second innings to set up the victory for his Kings XI side.

England’s contentious World Cup-prospect, Jofra Archer, was the pick of the Rajasthan bowlers with an inspired 3-15 in four overs to restrict the Kings XI to a competitive 182-6 in their allotted overs, after being inserted to bat first.
The Royals’ chase was a spirited effort, but it wasn’t enough to get over the line as the visitors succumbed to a disappointing 12-run defeat that keeps them second from bottom in the league standings.
