Kagiso Rabada’s vicious yorker to dismiss Dawid Malan is Khalid Mohidin’s Play of the Day.
The 21-year-old, who missed the second Test at Trent Bridge after serving a one-match ban, found the perfect way to announce his return on day one of the 100th Test at The Oval.
The young speedster ended with figures of 1-32 and an economy rate of 2.46, which included a wicket and four maidens in his 13 overs bowled.
His breakthrough, however, came only in his ninth over, as he struggled to find his rhythm in the match.
Rabada backed up the high expectations surrounding his ability with a magnificent delivery, which knocked Malan off his feet. It was a late-swinging toe-crushing yorker which did the damage, as the ball crashed into Malan’s middle stump and sent him packing for one on his debut.
Despite Rabada not having his best performance with the ball in hand, his pumped-up celebration summed up his relief to be back in the side and among the wickets for the Proteas.
This was the last wicket of the day, as stumps were called early due to continuous rain delays, with England on 171-4 after 59 overs.
