Kagiso Rabada was back amongst the wickets for the Delhi Capitals, his 3-36 setting up a relatively easy chase for them as they beat the Punjab Kings by seven wickets in Ahmedabad.
After choosing to bowl, Rabada set the tone for DC and the match, picking up two wickets in the powerplay. For PBKS, stand-in skipper Mayank Agarwal (99*) played a captain’s knock but was man alone in the battle against the DC bowling attack.
Without KL Rahul (injury) and Chris Gayle (13) not firing on the night, PBKS had nobody alongside Agarwal. They finished on an average 166-6 in their 20 overs.
In their chase, DC’s dangerous opening pair of Prithvi Shaw (39) and Shikhar Dhawan got them off to the perfect start by going at 10 runs an over in the powerplay. From then on, DC cruised with Dhawan once again the anchor ending not out on 69.
DC are now top of the IPL table and the only side with six wins this season. PBKS are in sixth but their playoff hopes are far from dashed
