Proteas Women star Marizanne Kapp returned sensational bowling figures in the Women’s Cricket Super League.
Playing for the Surrey Stars against Loughborough Lightning in a rain-reduced match, Kapp started the match with a one-run over against New Zealand’s star batter Sophie Devine and Australia’s Rachael Haynes.
Her next over also went for one but it came with the wicket of Haynes for 10 off nine balls.
In the final over, the Lightning batters managed to scrape just two singles off Kapp’s bowling, as well as suffering two run-outs as they did all they could to find runs off her bowling.
The Lightning ended their innings on 100-7 off 13 overs at a run rate of 7.69 runs per over, with Kapp adding to her bowling heroics having taken a catch to dismiss Devine off Bryony Smith for 16 off 13 balls.
Kapp’s Proteas Women teammate, Lizelle Lee, followed up her 70 in their previous match against the Thunder by scoring 48 off 28 balls (S/R 171.42), with seven fours and two sixes, losing her wicket in the ninth over with the score on 89-2. The Stars knocked off the winning runs with almost two overs in hand.
