Proteas all-rounder Marizanne Kapp took 1-19 and scored 48 not out as Surrey Stars beat the Yorkshire Diamonds by eight wickets in the Super League on Sunday.
It was a dominant performance by the Surrey side, who ripped through the opposition batting lineup, and Kapp got the ball rolling by finding the edge of Chamari Atapattu’s bat four balls into the second over to peg them back at 4-1.
It was a demolition job from there on as wickets continued to tumble.
Proteas all-rounder Sune Luus steadied the ship momentarily, coming to the crease with her side at 5-2. The 21-year-old top-scored for her side with 29 and strung together a 38-run partnership with Lauren Winfield, before the Surrey captain was dismissed in the 10th over and Luus in the 11th.
Katherine Brunt was the next top scorer with 25 as the rest of the batting attack collapsed, the Diamonds bundled out for 100 with one ball remaining in their 20 overs.
The Stars struggled more than the Diamonds, losing their opener in the first over for a duck, but a run-a-ball 21 by Tammy Beaumont helped her side recover before she lost her wicket too, the Diamonds rocked at 37-2 (7.5 overs).
Kapp topped her bowling performance, which saw her take 1-19 @ 4.95 in her 3.5 overs, and scored a 47-ball 48 in a 67-run third-wicket stand with her captain, Natalie Sciver (34 off 32 balls), as their side reached their required target with 15 balls to spare.
