Chennai Super Kings coach Stephen Fleming is set to take charge of the Joburg Super Kings in South Africa’s new T20 tournament.
The inaugural edition is scheduled to take place in January and February next year.
All six SA franchises have been bought by current IPL team owners, with the CSK owners purchasing the Joburg team.
Rapport newspaper has learned that it is set to be transformed into a mini-CSK, with Fleming the favourite to coach the team along with former Protea coach Eric Simons.
Former Proteas all-rounder Albie Morkel, who played for CSK in the IPL, may also have a role in the new Jobug team.
“We are looking at different names – like the Jozi Super Kings, Johannesburg Super Kings, but it looks like the team will be called the Joburg Super Kings,” a source told Rapport.
“They will play in yellow clothes and the current CSK coaching staff will simply come here in January to do duty before the IPL starts.”
