Keaton Jennings has kept his place in the England squad, while Steven Finn has been called up for the fourth Test at Old Trafford.
Jennings is likely to keep his role as Alastair Cook’s opening partner, despite struggling to find form throughout the series thus far.
The 25-year-old only managed scores of 8, 33, 0, 3, 0, so far and will get another chance to prove himself when the fourth and final Test kicks off on Friday.
Finn has been called up to replace the injured Mark Wood and will provide an extra seam option for the England side.
Liam Dawson, who played in the first two Tests, remains in the squad, which will allow England the option of fielding an extra spinner.
Major changes are unlikely in the bowling attack, after debutant Toby Roland-Jones took figures of 5-57 and 3-72 in the 239-run Test victory over the Proteas.
England squad for the fourth Test: Root (c), Cook, Jennings, Westley, Malan, Stokes, Bairstow, Ali, Roland-Jones, Broad, Anderson, Dawson, Finn.
