Shukri Conrad has been appointed head coach of the Proteas Test team while Rob Walter will be in charge of the limited-overs sides.
The other candidates for the positions were Proteas interim coach Malibongwe Maketa, former Proteas assistant coach Adrian Birrell and former West Indies director of cricket Richard Pybus.
The favourite to coach the limited-overs teams, Lance Klusener, withdrew his application last week.

Conrad was head coach of the Highveld Lions and Cape Cobras during SA’s franchise era, winning four trophies with the two teams.
The 56-year-old most recently coached the SA U19 side.
Walter was the Proteas’ strength and conditioning coach from 2009 to 2013, before being appointed head coach of the Titans.
He won three trophies in three seasons while in Pretoria before moving to New Zealand, where he has coached the Otago Volts and Central Stags. He also has IPL experience with the Pune Warriors and Delhi Daredevils (now Capitals).
Walter will only begin his new role on 1 February, the day of the Proteas’ third ODI against England in Kimberley. The team will have an interim coach for the first two matches, although Walter will be involved in selection.
