Shabnim Ismail ripped through Zimbabwe to skittle them for 78, in their opening match of the Women’s Quadrangular Series on Sunday.
It was an easy showing for the Proteas Women in their opening Quadrangular match as they obliterated the opposition, with Ismail emerging as the top Player of the Match.
Supported by her teammates Marizanne Kapp (1-33) and Raisibe Ntozakhe (3-8), the 28-year-old took a spray of wickets throughout the game to help bundle out the opposition. The Proteas bowling trio knocked over Zimbabwe’s top six for 47 runs (13.1 overs), with Ismail taking three wickets during that period.
Ismail then contributed with a run-out to take the visitors to 47-7 (14.3 overs), before cleaning up the tail in her last two overs, after Ntozakhe reduced Zimbabwe to 55-8 in the 20th over.
The Proteas speedster ended with figures of 5-25 to bowl out Zimbabwe in 26.5 overs, completing her second ODI five-wicket haul.
