Former Proteas Women’s fast bowler Shabnim Ismail was picked up by the Mumbai Indians at the Women’s Premier League auction on Saturday.
The 35-year-old was bought for 1.2 crore (R2.7-million).
Ismail was released by the UP Warriorz after making just three appearances in the inaugural WPL.
She recently played for the Hobart Hurricanes in the Women’s Big Bash League, taking 13 wickets in 14 matches.
Proteas all-rounder Nadine de Klerk was surprisingly not bought at Saturday’s WPL auction.
Other South Africans in the WPL are Marizanne Kapp (Delhi Capitals), Laura Wolvaardt (Gujarat Giants) and Chloe Tryon (Mumbai Indians).
