The Proteas Women’s tour of India ended in defeat with the hosts sealing a nine-wicket victory in the final T20I in Lucknow on Tuesday.
With a series victory already safely secured, the South Africans batted first and posted 112-7 in their 20 overs with the hosts delivering a tight bowling effort.
In reply, the Indian Women were flying from the start and took the South African bowlers to all corners of the ground.
Shafali Verma smashed her way to 60 off only 30 deliveries before falling to Nondumiso Shangase. Captain Smriti Mandhana (48) and Harleen Deol (4) guided India over the line with nine overs to spare.
The Proteas Women will, however, return home as ODI and T20I series winners, capping a very successful tour of the subcontinent.
