India B sealed the Quadrangular Series final with a comprehensive nine-wicket victory over Australia A thanks to half-centuries from Mayank Agarwal, Shubman Gill and Manish Pandey.
It was a straightforward victory for the home side in Bengaluru, who toppled the visitors for 225 in 47.5 overs. D’Arcy Short’s 72 off 77 balls at the top of the innings took his side to 148-4, before a middle-order blast of 53 off 56 balls from Alex Carey took his side past the 200-run mark.
These were the only significant scores as wickets from Shreyas Gopal (3-50), Siddarth Kaul (2-24), Navdeep Saini (2-33), Deepak Hooda (2-41) and Jalaj Saxena (1-43) cleaned up the Aussies.
India’s reply was dominated by two key partnerships – a 97-run partnership between Agarwal (69 off 67 balls; nine fours, two sixes) and Gill, and 120 runs between Gill (66 off 84 balls) and Pandey (73 off 54 balls).
Pandey’s impressive knock included eight fours and three sixes which saw him finish the series as the top scorer with 306 runs that included an unbeaten 117 also against Australia A.
Gill took the perfect time to impress selectors. The 18-year-old had a quiet series but scored his only half-century of the series to help his side clinch the final.
