Hawk-Eye has admitted that Rilee Rossouw should have been given out lbw upon referral during a Pakistan Super League match on Thursday.
Rossouw was shown the finger by on-field umpire Aleem Dar during the 11th over of the Quetta Gladiators’ run chase against Islamabad United when he had scored 11.
Upon referral, Hawk-Eye determined that the ball had hit the Proteas batsman outside the line of the stumps and would also have gone on to miss off-stump, much to Dar’s surprise.
In a letter to the PCB on Friday, Hawk-Eye admitted that the ball-tracking for the delivery did not reflect the path of the actual delivery. It is not yet clear what caused the error.
Rossouw went on to score 34* as the Gladiators claimed a three-wicket win.
