The Guyana Amazon Warriors are the first team through to the CPL final, after they beat the Jamaica Tallawahs by four wickets.
Guyana, who topped the group stages, now wait to see who they will face in Sunday’s final, while Jamaica will have another stab at it when they face the winner of tonight’s eliminator between David Miller’s St Lucia Zouks and Hashim Amla’s Trinbago Knight Riders.
The Tallawahs’ powerful top six struggled to get going in the encounter at Warner Park as Chris Gayle top scored with 33, but it came off 36 balls as they scraped together 146-8 from their allotted overs.
Australian export Chris Lynn has been in imperious form in the CPL this year – he’s the leading run-scorer and has only failed to score more than 30 twice. That continued as his contribution at No 3 yielded 49 off 47, including three sixes, to play a leading role in getting his side over the line.
The team also boast the highest wicket-taker in the tournament, Sohail Tanvir, and he put in a Man of the Match performance, taking 2-24, before finishing off the chase with three balls to spare, scoring 21 off 13 balls.
