Several South Africans contributed towards the Washington Freedom’s six-wicket win against the Los Angeles Knight Riders in Major League Cricket on Thursday.
Marco Jansen took 2-29, including the big wicket of Proteas batsman Rilee Rossouw for 41, as LA posted a competitive 175-7.
Dane Piedt conceded just eight runs in two overs while Anrich Nortje went for 31 in his four without picking up a wicket.

But it wasn’t enough as Washington reached their target with 11 balls to spare, thanks to a blistering 40 off 15 balls by captain Andries Gous – who opened the batting with Australia’s Matthew Short (43 off 35) – and Obus Pienaar’s unbeaten 26 off 17.
