The South African-born Craig Meschede has signed a two-year contract extension with Glamorgan.
Meschede, who played age-representative cricket for Gauteng as a teenager, was loaned to Glamorgan from Somerset in 2015. In 2016, the move was made permanent, and has been extended until 2020.
He was ruled out of the Welsh unit’s 2018 Royal London One Day Cup campaign by injury, but remained a key figure in the T20 Blast and County Championship Division Two.
‘In 2015, I felt as though Glamorgan was the right place for me to be playing cricket and I’ve loved every minute of my time here, so I’m delighted to sign a new contract,’ said the 26-year-old Meschede.
‘It was frustrating to miss the One Day Cup through injury earlier in the season, but I was pleased to be a part of the Vitality Blast campaign and challenge myself at the top of the order.
‘I’m very settled here in Wales and feel as though we’re certainly building for the future with some of the players we have coming through and I can’t wait for the new season to begin.’
Recent first-class half-centuries against Leicestershire and Warwickshire typified the all-rounder’s talent with the bat, in particular.
