Free State trounced Easterns by seven wickets and Northern Cape triumphed over Boland by six wickets in Sunday’s CSA Provincial One-Day Challenge action.
Big-scoring Knights wicketkeeper batter Andries Gouws guided Free State to a comfortable victory over Easterns, thanks to an undefeated 89 off 88 balls, with 13 fours and a six.
Northern Cape’s victory was courtesy of Farhaan Sayanvala, who scored 81 off 115 balls (9×4), to steer his side to victory with five overs in hand. Teammate Desmond de Koker took 4-28 and a run out to keep the lid on Boland, with Murray Commins (son of former Proteas batter John Commins) top-scoring for the visitors with 91 not out off 114 balls (10×4, 1×6).
