Middlesex assistant coach Nic Pothas has left his role due to personal reasons with immediate effect.
The former Proteas wicketkeeper, who earned three ODI caps in 2000, joined Middlesex under head coach Stuart Law in 2019.
The club said it was “extremely sad” to announce the departure of the 47-year-old, who had brought “his own brand of energy, focus and passion” to the role.
“I’ve had the most amazing time at Middlesex over the past three years,” said Pothas. “The staff and players are some of the best people I’ve had the benefit of working with during my coaching career. They’ve made coming to work an absolute joy, each and every day. I’ve had the great fortune of making lifelong friends in a short space of time.
“For personal reasons, which have made it very tough on me for the last six months, it would not be possible to give of my best to either the club or my family, which would make it unfair on both.
“Thanks for three years I’ll never forget.”
