Donovan Ferreira smashed 82* off 40 balls and took the key wicket of Quinton de Kock as the Joburg Super Kings beat Durban’s Super Giants by 16 runs at Kingsmead.
Ferreira came to the crease with his team in big trouble at 27-4, with Reeza Hendricks (one), Janneman Malan (five), Kyle Verreynne (10) and Lewis Gregory (two) all back in the pavilion.
But the big-hitting Northerns Titans batsman and captain Faf du Plessis stabilised the innings with a 72-run partnership before the latter fell for 39 off 33 balls.
Ferreira, who hit five sixes and eight fours in his entertaining innings, kept on going and with Romario Shepherd hitting 40 off 19 deliveries at the other end, the visitors finished on 190-6.

The Super Giants made an excellent start to their run chase, with West Indian Kyle Mayers and De Kock putting on 98 for the first wicket in 11 overs.
But Mayers was stumped by Verreynne off Aaron Phangiso’s bowling for 39 off 29, and Ferreira then caught and bowled De Kock (78 off 52) with the last delivery of his spell.
The Proteas wicketkeeper-batsman struck five sixes and five fours.
