Fakhar Zaman top scored with 73 as Pakistan’s 194-7 proved enough to secure a 45-run victory over Australia.
In a rehearsal for Sunday’s final, Fakhar was exquisite from the word go, smashing nine fours and three sixes for his 42-ball 73.
He was aided by cameos from Hussain Talet (30 off 25 balls), Shoaib Malik (27 off 15 balls) and an unbeaten Asif Ali (37 off 18).
Australia speedster Andrew Tye fought hard to keep his side in the contest, taking 3-35 which included the wicket of Malik.
Australia’s reply was timid, they managed 149-7 in their 20 overs, with a bulk of their runs coming from Alex Carey who hit a 24-ball 37 that included two sixes and two fours.
Eighteen-year-old, Shaheen Afridi, on debut, was superb taking 3-37 which included the wickets of Aaron Finch and Glenn Maxwell.
The Australians must still face Zimbabwe before they face Pakistan again in the triangular final.
