Faf du Plessis and Temba Bavuma’s record-breaking partnership of 142 is our Play of the Day.
The Proteas went into the first session on day four needing quick runs. Bavuma took some time to settle, while Faf du Plessis was aggressive from the outset.
Both men went on to score half-centuries. Du Plessis took 55 balls to reach the milestone, and Bavuma 75.

The pair put on 142 runs for the fourth wicket – a record against Bangladesh. The 101 runs they scored in the second hour of play provided the Proteas with plenty of momentum going into the second session. Ultimately, this aggressive approach allowed South Africa to declare well before tea.
Unfortunately, neither batsman managed to crack on and get a century. Du Plessis fell for 81 shortly after lunch, while Bavuma was out for 71 not long after the rain delay.
