Proteas captain Faf du Plessis will play for Kent in the remainder of the 2019 T20 Blast.
Du Plessis’ global T20 experience includes stints with the Chennai Super Kings and Rising Pune Supergiants in the Indian Premier League.
‘I really look forward to joining up with Kent for the last part of the Blast. I will do my best to contribute to the already successful team and hopefully help them to lift a trophy,’ said Du Plessis.
‘I’ve played with some of the squad members in the past and look forward to joining up with all the guys again.’
He has also represented the Edmonton Royals and St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the Global T20 Canada and Caribbean Premier League, respectively. The talented right-hander played for the Paarl Rocks in last year’s inaugural edition of the Mzansi Super League.
Kent director of cricket Paul Downton added: ‘We’re really excited to be able to bring in a world-class player such as Faf for the rest of the Blast.
‘He is a world-class batsman and, along with his leadership skills, he will be a major asset to our young side, as we seek to progress to the quarter-finals and beyond in this year’s competition.’
Former Proteas captain AB de Villiers is part of Middlesex’s ongoing T20 Blast campaign.
