England lost their fourth wicket straight after lunch to leave them just 65 runs ahead of India with six wickets in hand.
Alastair Cook was the first to go for 12 off 39 balls, followed shortly thereafter by Moeen Ali – promoted up the order after his first innings score of 40 – for nine.
With the score on 33-2, captain Joe Root joined the embattled Keaton Jennings, and the pair batted solidly until the last over before lunch, when Jennings was again trapped leg before by a ball that kept low.
Jennings had scored a brave 36 off 87 balls as he fought to keep his side in the Test, not to mention to secure his place in the side for the fifth and final Test. He and Root shared a 59-run stand for the third wicket before Jennings was dismissed by Mohammed Shami to send the players to lunch.
Shami bowled Jonny Bairstow first ball after lunch to leave England reeling on 92-4 with a lead of just 65.
