TV broadcasters who want domestic T20 cricket games to be shortened have led to radical changes being put on the table in England.
According to reports, suggestions for English cricket’s new T20 competition, launching in 2020, include five-ball overs and changing bowling ends only once – halfway through the innings.
These changes have been mentioned in exploratory talks aimed at speeding up T20 games.
The ECB is reportedly under pressure from TV partners such as the BBC to ensure games in the flagship competition are completed in around two-and-a-half hours.
