Former Proteas batsman JP Duminy has been confirmed as head coach of the Paarl Royals for the inaugural edition of the SA20 league.
Duminy was a strategic consultant for the Proteas during last year’s T20 World Cup and has been a batting consultant for the Central Gauteng Lions.
“I have always had a very close connection with Paarl, having played plenty of my cricket at Boland Park, so it’s an honour for me to have been appointed as the head coach of the Paarl Royals,” said Duminy in a news release.
“It is an exciting time for everyone associated with South African cricket and I’m really looking forward to working with some exceptional international and local players. The shared knowledge and experience in the dressing room is what I’m most excited about and having the privilege to facilitate and unlock our abilities together with my coaching and management staff.”
Northerns Titans head coach Mandla Mashimbyi will be the Paarl Royals’ fast-bowling coach, with former Gauteng bowler Richard Das Neves overseeing the spin bowlers and team strategy.
England Women’s coach Lisa Keightley will be the Royals’ tactical performance coach.
