Garden Route Badgers captain Jean du Plessis became only the third player in South African first-class history to hit a double century and a century in the same match.
The 24-year-old, who matriculated at Glenwood House in George, achieved the feat in the 4-Day Series Division 2 fixture against the Eastern Cape Iinayathi at the Recreation Ground in Oudtshoorn.
Du Plessis scored 203 from 316 balls (24 fours) and 101* from 125 balls (nine fours) as the Badgers (SWD) recorded a comprehensive 254-run victory.
The other two batsmen to achieve this landmark are Adam Bacher (210 & 112* for Transvaal vs Griqualand West in Kimberley, 1996-97) and Herschelle Gibbs (200* & 272 for South Africa vs India A in Nagpur, 1996-97).
Last month, Du Plessis struck a List A best of 112 against the Northern Cape Heat in the Division 2 One Day Cup.
He made his first-class debut for SWD at the age of 17 in 2016 and went on to represent South Africa at the U19 World Cup in New Zealand in 2018.
