Faf du Plessis shows Joe Root how to do the ‘mic drop’ Mzansi style during his record-breaking partnership of 252 with David Miller against Australia in the third and final ODI of the series.
After the Proteas marked their 600th ODI with another top-order collapse, it was up to Miller and Du Plessis to keep their side in the game. This time the pair were phenomenal, both scoring a century and sharing a record-breaking partnership of 252 for the fourth wicket.
Du Plessis scored his 10th career ton. Unfortunately, he lost his wicket on 125 off 114 balls after a superb diving catch from Shaun Marsh for Stoinis’ second wicket.
Miller smashed 139 off 108 balls that included 13 fours and four sixes – three of those fours and a six came in the 47th over, when he punished Pat Cummins. Australia conceded 130 off the last 10 overs as the Proteas ended on 320-5.
This was the first time the Proteas scored 300 in Australia and is their highest total against Australia Down Under.
