Bryce Parsons’ century propelled the KZN Dolphins to a 30-run victory via the DLS method over the Northerns Titans in Centurion on Wednesday.
An unbroken 156-run second-wicket partnership between Parsons (102* off 48 deliveries, eight fours and seven sixes) and Jon-Jon Smuts (61* off 33, eight fours and two sixes) saw the visitors post 183-1 off 14 overs.
Earlier, rain had halted play with the visitors on 29-1 after 3.2 overs, following an early breakthrough by David Wiese, who dismissed Grant Roelofsen for 11.
The match was eventually reduced to 14 overs per side.
The Dolphins’ bowling unit then consistently chipped away at the Titans’ batting lineup, ultimately limiting them to 152-5 in their 14 overs.
Joshua van Heerden provided some resistance for the hosts with 56 off 35 balls, while Wiese scored 30* from 13.
Okuhle Cele claimed two crucial wickets in his spell of three overs, while Dolphins captain Prenelan Subrayen conceded just 15 runs in his two overs while also picking up a wicket.
The T20 Challenge continues on Thursday as the EP Warriors host Western Province, and the North West Dragons take on the Boland Rocks in Potchefstroom. Both matches start at 2pm.
