With the Division 2 CSA 4-Day Series well underway, the Division 1 teams will commence their domestic red-ball campaign on Saturday.
The opening round will see all top-division teams in action, as the Boland Rocks host the Northerns Titans in Paarl, Western Province take on the Central Gauteng Lions at Newlands, the EP Warriors travel to Potchefstroom to play the North West Dragons, and the champion KZN Dolphins face the KZN Inland Tuskers at Kingsmead.
“We have invested significant effort in refining our red-ball skills, considering it the pinnacle of domestic competition,” said Dolphins coach Imraan Khan. “Our objective is to secure the title once again this season.
“The competition is fierce, and we are well aware of the challenges posed by the formidable teams in the series. Achieving positive results in the four-day format demands consistent, high-quality cricket, and we are prepared to deliver just that.”
The Northern Cape Heat, reigning back-to-back Division 2 champions, began their campaign with a draw against the Eastern Storm last Sunday.
“We approached this season with great excitement, recognising the opportunity to fiercely compete for a third consecutive title,” said Heat coach Mark Charlton. “Our preparation instilled confidence in the team, and we’re aiming to maintain our momentum in this format.”
