KZN Dolphins captain Prenelan Subrayen believes they are “peaking at the right time” heading into Sunday’s T20 Challenge final at the Wanderers.
The Dolphins set up a meeting with the table-topping Central Gauteng Lions with a five-wicket win against the EP Warriors at Kingsmead on Thursday.
It was their sixth consecutive victory.
In their home conditions, the Dolphins stuck to a predominantly seam attack for the semi-final, which paid off.
“We try and play the conditions as we see them and don’t premeditate too much,” said Subrayen.
“The seamers bowled well, and we felt they were the best for the conditions which meant that we could restrict the Warriors to about 20 runs short of what we thought was par.
“I think we’re peaking at the right time,” Subrayen added. “We’ve finished the tournament well so far and had some good results but it’s all about what happens on Sunday, and we are really looking forward to another final.”
The Dolphins lost to the Lions at the Wanderers earlier in the tournament but beat them at Kingsmead.
The match at the Wanderers was a rain-reduced nine-overs-a-side shootout, with the Dolphins scoring 98-6 and the Lions reaching their target in the last over.
Sunday’s final will start at 2pm and be broadcast live on SuperSport Action (channel 210).
