Temba Bavuma was dismissed for a first-ball duck on his SA20 debut for the Sunrisers Eastern Cape at Kingsmead.
The Proteas captain was strangled down the leg side by a wide ball from Durban Super Giants fast bowler Reece Topley and caught behind by wicketkeeper Heinrich Klaasen.

Bavuma went unsold at the SA20 auction last September after a poor year for the Proteas in the shortest format. In 12 matches, he made 134 runs at an average of 13.40 and a strike rate of 95.71.
As a result, Bavuma’s base price of R850,000 was considered too high by the six SA20 franchises.
However, the 32-year-old was snapped up by the Sunrisers for the second half of the SA20 following scores of 36, 109 and 35 for the Proteas in the recent ODI series against England. Those runs came at a strike rate of 114.64.
