The Central Gauteng Lions secured their first win in the T20 Challenge with a seven-wicket victory over the EP Warriors in Potchefstroom on Friday.
Warriors openers Lesiba Ngoepe (32 off 24 balls) and Wihan Lubbe (27 off 36) shared a 48-run partnership for the first wicket.
Lutho Sipamla struck first to dismiss Ngoepe, and Evan Jones (2-20 in four overs) followed with the wicket of Matthew Breetzke (eight). Tetelo Maphaka clean bowled Rudi Second (12) and Jones returned for Lubbe.
Jordan Hermann (16*) and Sinethemba Qeshile (3*) were at the crease when rain interrupted the Warriors on 106-4 after 17 overs.
The DLS method reduced the Lions innings to 14 overs and the target to 100.
Ryan Rickelton (19 off 11 balls) and Cameron Delport (30 off 11, three fours, three sixes) got their team off to a flying start, with 39 runs coming in 2.3 overs before the latter was caught by Tshepo Ndwandwa off Lubbe. Rickelton followed with the score on 58, trapped lbw by Beyers Swanepoel.
Dominic Hendricks was run out for a duck in the fifth over, but Wiaan Mulder (31* off 21) and Mitchell van Buuren (16* off 19) got the Lions over the line with 21 balls to spare.
